I took my mother to the ER on Saturday afternoon. We were afraid that she was having a blood clot. My mother had a very serious blood clot in March of 2016. She was in Piedmont Henry for almost two weeks during that time. Because they helped save her life then, I assumed that they would be the best providers in this situation. I was utterly mistaken. NO ONE, and I do mean NO ONE asked her what her current dosage of blood thinners was OR ANY other prescription medications that she was on while we were in the ER yesterday. The hospital did make sure that someone came by and made us pay though. The ER had no record or information on her previous hospitalization at this hospital. Or if they did, no one bothered to read it. They took her blood and we waited. And waited. And waited. Then more waiting. Finally the doctor came by. We had to give the doctor the basic version of her medical history. Which no one asked for either. We explained why we were concerned because of her medical condition and history. The doctor ordered an ultrasound on her leg. So we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally the doctor came by an hour and a half later to tell us that the ultrasound person had gone home early for the day. It was before 5 pm when we were told this. We were told that we needed to come back to the hospital at 8 am the following morning to have the ultrasound done and that we didn’t need paperwork. All we needed to do was tell them that she was at the ER on Saturday and they would see her right away. We returned to the hospital at 8 am to have the test done, and no one was at the outpatient testing center. The only place that seemed to have anyone working was the ER. So we talked to the intake person at the desk and she had no record of the test being ordered by the ER doctor from the previous day. After waiting for almost two and a half hours someone finally came and got my mother for her test. The ultrasound tech told us that she didn’t see any blood clots, but there was an inconsistency with her valves. The tech told us that we couldn’t leave until a doctor reviewed the results and told us we could leave. So we waited another hour in the ER lobby until a woman, who I assume was a nurse because she never identified herself, told us that we didn’t need to wait and to just go home. Needless to say, I am grateful that there was no blood clot, but I honestly have never experienced such miscommunication and seemly uninformed people at Piedmont Henry in the many years that my parents have been going there.
Had an appendectomy on Thursday at Piedmont Henry. What a wonderful hospital. All the staff were so nice, helpful,-accommodating, professional, and had such great side bed manners. Everyone from radiology Tony and Jennifer. To my awesome ER nurse Gerald. Incredible surgeon Dr Erdelyn. All the nursing staff Cynthia, Sarah, Delores, Donna. They were all truly awesome. Thanks for taking such great care of us. We appreciate it!!
My experience mirrors most of the other comments here. The doctors and nurses seem competent and genuinely interested in the welfare of the patients however everything they do takes absolutely forever to happen. Every little thing they do takes at least an hour before they do it and then at least an hour before they do the next thing. It took 10 hours to make it through the ER.
Piedmont Henry HOSPITAL
In 6 days only cleaned the room 2times. Only seen my Dr 2 times in 6 days as well.
I have been in hospital after hospital in my lifetime and I know good care and what bad care as well. Last week I was in Piedmont Henry 3 floor on the South side. They are crazy to tell me if I need water get it out of the sink in my room.
But when I cud see the IV in my arm was in need to be changed. It was in from when the EMT put it In but the nurse told me it was good. Wrong I cud see it backing out of my arm see the white part. I know that Jackson hospital is better than Piedmont Henry hospital is now.
Because I don't think I can trust them with my life again.
Thank you so much, Piedmont Henry, for your great hospitality.
I'll never go back to
Sink water is okay at home but NOT IN A HOSPITAL
I had an outpatient surgery yesterday and I cannot brag on the hospital staff enough!! I was so impressed with how comfortable they made me feel and how helpful they were. Anything I asked for, they got it for me. I suffer from extremely bad anxiety and was a nervous wreck when I first got to the hospital. As soon as I got settled in, they made sure to give me something to calm my nerves.
Now this also doesn't take into account that the diagnosis and initial treatment only took about 2 hours, during which it was expressed multiple times that discharge was imminent, but when it was learned that full personal insurance would be use, all of a sudden many more tests were needed "just in case"..
One last thing, when I was in the surgery room about to be put under anesthesia, the sweetest nurse took my hands and prayed for my well being during the surgery.
The staff honestly treated me like family and I will forever be greatful for this experience.
